Drawings Checklist
NKBA Design Competition - Plan & Elevation Checklist
Please see below guidelines of what to include (but not limited to) on the plans and elevations.
Overall
- Clear plans and elevations that clearly show the “story” of the space - not cluttered with too many dimensions (ie. we don't need the dimension of every cabinet)
- The drawings are NOT installation drawings
- NO company or designer identifying information to be on any of the drawings, design statement or photographs
- NO client identifying information on any of the drawings, design statement or photographs
General
- Scale indicated on all drawings
- Notation for GFI receptacle outlets near sinks/bathrooms
- Receptacle outlets on island/peninsula clearly indicated - if not clear on the drawings, then notations are required
- Appliance locations clearly indicated - if not clear on the drawings, then notations are required
- Notations of interesting elements that are not clear on the drawings (ie. hidden outlets, hidden charging station etc)
- A reflected ceiling plan and/or an electrical plan is optional and is not necessary or required - if not included, notations need to be on the drawings to explain certain elements
Dimensions
- Overall and relevant dimensions are required
- Centre lines for appliances and plumbing locations
- Walkway/traffic clearance dimensions (ie.distance from island countertop to perimeter countertop)
- Elevations need height dimensions w/ ceiling height
- Heights of appliances (ie. height of built in ovens aff)
- Clearance between cooking surface and underside of hood vent
- Clearance between cooking surface and underside of upper cabinet/hood enclosure
- If cabinet/millwork/walls above or beside a cooking surface is under the clearances to a combustible surface as outlined by the OBC, then a notation is required as to material used to ensure compliance to the OBC
- Clearance between countertop and underside of upper cabinet
- BONUS POINT - indicate location of fire extinguisher in kitchen
