Elements and Principles Of Design
Function
Presentation Quality of floor plan, elevation or perspective.
Basic Safety & Ergonomics Projects with an obvious disregard for the health, safety and welfare of the clients will be disqualified. See Entry Tips page for Ontario Building Code guideline for cabinetry clearance above cooking surface.
Documents required for judging:
Design Statement : Clearly outline the client's needs, preferences, and challenges. Show how you responded to real-world design problems. Focus on the goals, the design approach, and how the project evolved. Max 500 words – make it easy to ready, well organized and support/match the visuals.
Interpretative Drawing : Elevations only (perspective drawings not accepted). Please refer to NKBA guidelines (click here)?.
Floor Plan : Before & after if applicable. Scale must be clearly labeled. Please refer to NKBA guidelines (click here)?.
Before & after specialty category must include before and after photos
Photographs : Photographs are required to be submitted with entry. A minimum of 3 photos in order of appearance. Professional photography Is highly recommended as the submitted photography is used for publication and at the Design Awards Gala.
A maximum number of 6 after photos are to be submitted. Before photos are in addition to the maximum of 6 after photos.
